Numbers below are Mass Save’s 2026 rules as of August. They can change. We check your house against the current list before you sign anything.
A lot of people around here got a heat pump quote last year and then sat on it. If that’s you, the rebate is not the same number you were looking at.

If your household qualifies as income-eligible, there is a separate path with enhanced rebates up to $16,000. That’s worth a real conversation, not a guess on a website. We’ll tell you if it looks like you fit.
Equipment got pickier too. The unit has to be on this year’s qualified list. Some systems that ran on the older refrigerant (R-410A) dropped off. If last year’s quote was for one of those, it may not rebate now even if the machine still works fine. The Mitsubishi and Samsung cold-climate systems we install are ones we picked because they still qualify.
So is a heat pump still worth doing?
For a lot of the houses we see, yes. $8,500 back and 0% on up to $25,000 is still a lot of money off a new heating system. It is just less than 2025.
What I wouldn’t do is sit on last year’s quote and assume the old math still holds. It doesn’t. We’ll redo the numbers with this year’s rebate already subtracted so you’re looking at a real installed price, not a brochure.

On qualifying installs, we do instant rebates. The Mass Save amount comes off what you pay us at the job. You are not filling out forms and then sitting around for the state to mail you money.
We still handle the paperwork: current qualified list, sizing docs, the application. If that packet is wrong, it comes back, so we treat it like part of the install, not homework we hand you after we leave.
